Yes, we do have school today! I can attest to that since students are very excited to put it mildly! In case you did not make it here today and are checking my blog please leave me a comment. We were busy so make sure you get any make up work when you return. We completed our DLR, checked our vocabulary, discussed adjectives and completed an adjective worksheet.
November 17
There are only three more days and you get to have a week off of school. Work hard these last few days please! Remember that those of you who are doing what you are supposed to do and getting all of your work turned in will have a FUN FRIDAY!
What are your plans for the Thanksgiving break? Please tell me about it. Use correct punctuation!
November 9
Parents and Students,
This is a reminder that I will not be in class on November 10th. I wish I could say I was taking off for a fun birthday, but unfortunately, I have to attend a funeral. Thursday, I will also have a substitute, along with the other ELA teachers, so we can work on some important things for our students.
Things for you to remember:
Tuesday – Literature Circle #3
Wednesday – We are going to the library a day early, so please bring your books. All absent/missing work is due by today so that my grades can be submitted. Tests for this week will go on next six weeks report card.
Thursday – Fundraiser Party
Friday – We will take DLR and Vocabulary tests today since many will be out on Thursday at various times
Literature Circle #4 – Make sure you have your reading all completed before class!
Dialectical Journal Due on Friday!
October 23
We had a wonderful time at science day yesterday and want to shout out a huge thank you to all of our volunteers and science teachers. It was a very cold day, but we learned so much and had a great day!
Today, we did not have time to do our vocabulary test so we will take it on Monday. Students this gives you a little more time to study! We spent more time than I planned reading Elephant Run in class today. It was such a good book that we just couldn’t put it down once we got started. Students, I would love to hear your thoughts on the book. Tell me your favorite parts and whether or not your predictions were correct.
STILL ON!
At this moment we are still scheduled for Science Day tomorrow. The weatherman says the weather will clear up in time!
DO BRING: Hat, sunscreen, old shoes/boots, jacket,
DON’T BRING: Electronics or backpacks
I HAVE your T-SHIRT and will give to you in the morning
Looking forward to a great day!

Don’t forget: First Dialectical Journal is Due on Friday!
All students should be finished writing their rough draft of the personal narrative at this time. We will begin editing it on Friday.
Next Monday, October 12th, is a student holiday.
September 24
Today we completed our DLR and Vocabulary test #4. I can’t believe this six weeks is going so quickly. Next week will be the end of the six weeks, so make sure you are getting all of your work complete and turned in, especially if you are absent. Tomorrow is also the last day of the book fair and they will be closing at 10 am. This has been a busy week and we discussed writing our personal narrative, but havent had time to begin yet. We should begin this tomorrow and continue writing next week. I hope everyone has an exciting idea for your personal experience as you begin writing. Remember to show me through your vivid details what you are writing about instead of just telling me!
September 15
Today has been a very busy day in ELA! First, we completed reading chapter 10 in Elephant Run and had some great discussions. We also reviewed the vocabulary and students had an opportunity to ask questions about the words. We spent time on this yesterday in class and anything that was not finished was homework. After this, we began group work on the computer doing research on different aspects of the story. Progress reports were sent home today and need to be signed and returned tomorrow!
September 11
A day of remembrance: Today we watched a video from Teacher Tube about the significance of 9-11. Our character trait of the week was on integrity and we talked about being young people of integrity and how our actions affect not only us but others as well. The students had a chance to free write about their own thoughts and ideas.
We have also been practicing our cursive writing so I hope to see more students writing legibly in cursive soon.
Have a great weekend!
