A forum for Mrs. Jones' Language Arts class

September 14

Good morning:

I hope you are having a great beginning of the school year.  This week everyone should be studying DLR #4 and vocabulary words for a test on Friday.  Today is library day and the day our president will be giving his speech.  If you returned the permission slip you will watch this at lunch time today.

Students, tell me about the book you checked out today and give me a prediction about the book.  I can’t wait to hear all about the new books you are checking out.

Parents, progress reports are coming home today.  Please sign and return before Friday.

One awesome week finished

We have successfully completed the first week of sixth grade without any major circumstances.  It has been a busy week and a time for all of us to get adjusted and back into a routine.  The students finished the first DLR(daily Language Review) test and I will try to have graded and into skyward by Tuesday.  They also learned all about diamante poetry and after we practiced together, they each wrote their own diamante.

As many of you know, I am missing a couple of days of school for the first few weeks due to my daughter’s health.  Mrs. Hill is my substitute and she is doing a great job. Please feel free to email me if you have any concerns.

I look forward to meeting many of you

Welcome Back

I am looking forward to a great year of sixth grade.  I can’t wait to meet each new student tomorrow and hope you are ready to learn many new things this year.  Parents, I really would like to have an open line of communication so please don’t hesitate to comment on this blog or email me.
